Cricket's Three Formats and Major Tournaments

Cricket holds a special place in Bangladesh. From the lanes of Dhaka to the national stadium, cricket is part of everyday conversation. That passion makes betting more meaningful. z buzz lets you bet on all three formats of cricket.

T20: The fastest format. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are the three tournaments most familiar to Bangladeshi fans. The situation changes every over, so markets shift quickly too.

ODI: The 50-over format allows more room for strategy. Fan interest in the Tigers' performances in one-day international cricket is always high. The ODI World Cup and Asia Cup are also available here.

Test: The longest format. The number of markets in five-day cricket is comparatively fewer, but big markets like match winner and series winner are popular.

Alongside Cricket — Football and Other Sports

z buzz is not limited to cricket. Football is the second most popular sport in Bangladesh, and betting markets are available for Premier League, La Liga and Champions League matches. In football a draw is a valid result, so the match winner market has three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. In limited-overs cricket a draw is generally not possible, so that market has only two options.

Markets are also available for kabaddi, badminton and tennis. Each sport has different rules, so the way odds are set differs too — in tennis you can bet by set, while in kabaddi the match winner is the main market. Before you start betting, it is better to focus on the sport you already know.

Cricket vs Football Betting

  • Cricket generally has no draw option (T20/ODI); football has three options
  • Cricket offers in-play markets per ball and per over
  • The goalscorer market in football is as popular as the top batsman market in cricket
  • Over/under runs in cricket works the same way as over/under goals in football
  • In both sports, multiple selections can be combined through a multi bet

6 Popular Betting Markets and How They Work

New bettors often find it hard to decide which market to bet on. Below are the simplest and most familiar markets explained.

Match Winner

Simplest

Pick which team will win the match. Example: Team A or Team B — T20 usually has two options.

Toss Winner

50/50 chance

Bet on who will win the toss before the match starts. Team A or Team B — two equally likely options.

Top Batsman

Individual performance

Pick who will score the most runs within a specific team. Knowing the team's batting order makes this market easier to understand.

Total Runs Over/Under

Number market

Will the total runs in the first innings be more (over) or fewer (under) than a set number. Example: line 160.5 — if you think it will be more than 160, choose over.

Multi Bet

Multiple selections

Combine the results of multiple matches into one bet. You win only if all selections are correct; if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

Runs in the First Over

Micro market

Bet on how many runs will be scored in the first over of the match — this market adds a lot of interest right at the start of the powerplay.

z buzz Odds Format — Decimal and Fractional Comparison

Odds Are Written Three Ways — Understand the Difference

Betting sites show three types of odds formats: decimal, fractional and American. z buzz generally uses the decimal format, but it helps to understand the other two as well.

Format Team A Win (example) What it means
Decimal 2.25 For every ৳1 bet, you get a total of ৳2.25 back
Fractional 5/4 5 units profit on a 4-unit stake
American +125 ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet

Example 1 — Team A wins, bet ৳500

The same odds in three formats: decimal 2.25 = fractional 5/4 = American +125.

If Team A wins: total return ৳1,125 (৳625 profit + ৳500 original stake).

If Team A loses: ৳500 stake is lost.

Example 2 — Favourite Team B, bet ৳500

Team B's odds: decimal 1.80 = fractional 4/5 = American -125.

American minus odds mean you need to bet ৳125 to win ৳100.

If Team B wins: total return ৳900 (৳400 profit + ৳500 stake).

Live Betting in Progress

Odds Shift When a Wicket Falls — In-Play Betting

Live or in-play betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. This is the most active section of z buzz. In cricket, odds change with every ball, every wicket and every over.

Say Team A is batting and has made a good start in the powerplay — their odds of winning will shorten (they become the favourite). If two quick wickets fall, the odds will shift again. Watching these changes and deciding when to bet is the core of in-play betting.

Over/under runs markets are also available in-play. How many runs will a team score in the first 10 overs — these kinds of micro markets are only available in a live setting.

In-play betting requires quick decisions. It is better not to place large bets in a rush — treat every bet as part of the entertainment. Follow the responsible gaming guidelines.

Set a budget and do not go beyond it

A Few Useful Tips Before You Start

Betting is a form of entertainment — it is not a reliable source of income. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience healthier.

1

Set a budget first

Decide how much you will bet before you start. Do not go beyond that limit, even on a winning streak.

2

Focus on one market

Spreading your attention across too many markets at once is counterproductive. Start with a simple market like match winner.

3

Bet on formats you understand

T20 and Test cricket move at completely different speeds. Bet on the format you watch the most.

4

Accept losses

Chasing a lost bet with a bigger bet is the most dangerous habit. Take a break.

Frequently Asked Questions

In handicap betting, the weaker team is given a head start in runs or wickets to even out the contest. For example, if Team B is given a 15-run handicap, those 15 runs are added to Team B's score for betting purposes. The winner is decided by the handicap-adjusted result, not the actual score.

If a match is abandoned due to rain or any other reason, most bets are cancelled and stakes are refunded. However, if a result is declared using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, that result stands as final. The rules for each market are detailed in z buzz's terms and conditions.

Yes, there is. T20 matches have more micro markets such as per-over markets, powerplay runs and death over markets. In ODIs, first innings runs and wicket markets are popular. Test cricket has more long-running markets such as per-session markets and innings winner.

Generally two or more selections can be combined. The odds of each selection are multiplied to give the total odds. Example: combining three selections at odds of 1.50, 1.70 and 1.90 gives total odds of 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 4.84 (approximately) — meaning a ৳100 bet returns ৳484 if all selections are correct; if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

The betting rules are the same, but the two tournaments have different identities. BPL is Bangladesh's own franchise league — you can follow local players' performances directly here. IPL is India's league, but it has a huge following in Bangladesh. Both are played in T20 format, so the betting markets are similar.
